http://base.web-kovalev.ru/scripts/88.php It also does not protect any circuits accidentally created between to "power" terminals. Since you will be running some modern trains with electronics too, be certain to add "TVS" devices. This advice may be considered off-putting to some, but adding external circuit protection is really very simple.
Thank you for all your responses. I would be running just one train at a time on it, my Batman Phantom train and no accessories, for now. My layout space probably won't exceed 42" X 78". I know, small, but I live in an apartment.
How would you wire the TVS into a fastrack setup? These are available from many standard electronics part suppliers. Simply wire it across your U and A terminals on the Here is a forum discussion on TVS diodes with more information than you'll care to know: C W Burfle , the source document is dated February and predates heater elements. Yikes - I just did the math and realized that is 70 years old this month! I can't imagine at the time that Lionel thought we would be referencing that document today! Heater type smoke units came out in Maybe the other numbers included the heater type smoke unit.
Does this have to soldered or can you just wrap it around the terminal?
The "A-U" combination supplies any voltage from 5 to 16 volts. It's a good thing you asked, because your assumption is quite flawed. Our manual is lost and For running the train and blowing the whistle, you need to use only two terminals. Maybe the other numbers included the heater type smoke unit. I would think you could crimp the ends into a open ended connector and place it in that way. You can just wrap the leads right around the binding post. No need for solder or crimped connections but I wouldn't discourage using those if you wanted. Any information would be most helpful. Please reply to tubajer gmail.
Posted on Oct 30, I have the same transformer and not only do the bell and whistle not work, but the lights in the car don't come on. Other than that the engine Alaska Budd Car runs fine in forward and reverse. Posted on Mar 20, I might add that if your wires are getting hot you have a short either in your connection s or in the transformer itself I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher.

If you want a low-voltage range, use B and U. If your train needs more voltage, use A and U instead. I can't imagine how you would hook it up to "fry" your locomotive. Perhaps he was referring to how you would use it along with your other transformer. Take a look at this current topic for some advice about that: Posted by Anonymous on Friday, October 07, 3: I've got it up and running.
I first tried the low voltage connection and everything worked, including the direction and whistle, but the engine wasn't getting enough juice. I switched to the A and U connections and the train gets enough juice and the direction switch works but not the whistle. Posted by lionelsoni on Friday, October 07, 3:
